Founded in 2020, the AI Center of Excellence is passionate about creating value and long term impact within the AI and ML space in Africa. The Centre aims to accomplish this by providing expert training to create skilled and employable AI and ML engineers by transforming them from data scientists and python experts.
The Centre dives into creating sustainable impact through Research and Development. AI research and products are estimated to contribute over $13 trillion to the global economy by 2030. This offers the Centre an opportunity to carry out research in particular sectors and build products around challenges based on the research.
The global AI as a service market is expected to hit $7 billion by 2023. The Centre is in a position to provide AI solutions to different organizations which in turn creates employment and sustainable solutions which are up to speed with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
There are 36,524 AI experts in the world. 50% of the experts are in the USA while less than 5% are in Africa. According to oxford insights on government artificial intelligence readiness index 2019. Kenya ranks as the first in Africa. AICE aims to leverage on this potential and transform Kenya into a full blown Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence.
